The person explains that last night, they poured themself "just one drink" to relax post a stressful day. A single drink transformed into another, followed by three. This is a habit they become accustomed to; an unspoken custom that enables the individual "disconnect" from the racing ideas that overwhelm their consciousness when their schedule eventually slows down.

Growing Phenomenon: Relying on Alcohol to Manage Anxiety

This experience represents what I have been observing more and more often during sessions. Being a counsellor, it's clear a striking development: a rising number of people that are relying on drinking to cope with their mental health concerns.

Data shows that approximately a significant portion of people who consumed drinks admitted doing so to relieve stress and a substantial percentage to deal with worry.

Acknowledging Contemporary Stress Exposure

We navigate an era of termed by experts as contemporary stress triggers. We have never been so constantly informed of crisis, tensions and instability. Even when we disconnect technology, the anxieties continue of money worries, employment uncertainty, ecological anxiety and the emotional fatigue that accompanies experiencing without control.
