The Oscar-nominated performer Diane Ladd, a Hollywood veteran has died 89 years old.
This actor, with roles featured Chinatown, died at her home at her Ojai, California home. The news was shared in a statement shared by her daughter, award-winning actress Laura Dern.
Her daughter, who starred with Diane Ladd in a number of films like Wild at Heart and Rambling Rose, described her as “my wonderful hero as well as my precious gift of a mother”, writing that she was at her bedside during her final moments.
“She was the greatest grandmother, mother, daughter, star, artist and caring individual that only dreams could have seemingly created,” she stated. “We were blessed to have her. She is now with the angels.”
Ladd’s early career included supporting roles in TV shows like Gunsmoke whereas the 1970s featured her performing next to the legendary Jack Nicholson in the classic Chinatown.
That very year, 1974, she appeared alongside Ellen Burstyn in the Martin Scorsese praised comedy drama Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, a classic. Her role earned Ladd her initial Oscar nod as best supporting actress.

She persisted in performing with her daughter in comedy drama Daddy and Them, a movie, David Lynch’s the movie Inland Empire and the series by Mike White comedy-drama series Enlightened.
