Hulu is Developing a Popular Game TV Series from the Minds of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.

The newest action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating action and insanity with equal enthusiasm, all while presenting captivating, politically driven narratives. It’s no surprise that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those elements.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' style by introducing a fresh backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared excellent collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and wildly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”

What’s Next

Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we are unsure of what character that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago greenlit for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.

“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, entrusting us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady confidence and support.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a interpretation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To create a big action show that can shift from one instalment to the next, while always exploring the nature of people through this complex and unpredictable lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to work with Rob and present our shared unconventional, visionary sensibility to the television.”

A schedule for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
