Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was natural for concerns to be asked about his future following another convincing loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me constantly of the day to say they trust me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this defeat yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot expressed regret over recurring weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with results like these.”

He stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
