Intense storms over the past week have worsened the precarious circumstances of the hundreds of thousands of uprooted residents in the territory, as stated by relief organizations.
A representative described the weather overnight as "terrible", with precipitation so severe that up to 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.
"The recent weather was exceptionally horrendous for the residents. The heavy rains were so strong... And the gusts were so forceful," said the official.
Authorities voice extreme anxiety that minors residing in temporary structures in damp attire will contract hypothermia and additional sicknesses.
Health authorities have confirmed that one baby has passed away from hypothermia and at least 11 other people have been killed in structural failures caused by the harsh conditions.
Further statements suggest a higher fatality count. Spokespeople reported that multiple structures had totally fallen and scores had been partly destroyed.
Agencies have escalated deliveries of shelter, warm covers and clothes after the halt in hostilities started, but they have said there is still not enough aid getting in.
"Officials are operating tirelessly to provide that aid and to distribute it, but the scale of the needs is so vast that we continue to see thousands of families and children who are truly struggling each evening," cautioned one spokesperson.
The second phase of the agreement encompasses plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the removal of military forces, and other conditions.
Humanitarian groups have underscored the need for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to address pressing and future requirements."
The hostilities was initiated by an assault in late 2023. Later actions have caused a high number of casualties in the region, as per official figures.
