Tottenham Manager Frank Labels Goalkeeper Booers 'Not True Genuine Supporters'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Raise Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told later "those individuals cannot be real Tottenham supporters" by manager Thomas Frank.

Spurs conceded two goals in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to Fulham, registering their 10th top-flight home defeat of 2025.

However the main topic of discussion was the visitors' next goal when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his box.

He came out to deal with a high pass and carried the ball towards the touchline.

However, instead of booting it out of play, the Italian spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

King laid the ball off to Wales midfield player Harry Wilson, who bent a shot into the net from the touchline recorded at 36.6 metres.

Moments afterwards when the ball went to Vicario again, some Spurs fans jeered him.

Spurs were booed off at the interval, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

One of those jeering sessions truly angered Frank.

"I heard some of our fans apparently jeered the situation and booed following, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Danish manager stated regarding the supporters' response to his goalkeeper.

"Those individuals can't be real Spurs fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the match, no problem, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."

Kenny Tete had handed Fulham a early lead prior to Harry Wilson's goal – with Kudus scoring for Tottenham in an better second-half performance.

Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "totally preventable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," Hart continued. "I am aware the role Vicario is playing. He is a excellent squad member, he's a real figure in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your actions.

"He was deeply implicated in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It's In the Game, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy international the keeper is in his third season with Tottenham.

He said after the match that he had to take the criticism.

"That score was a mistake of mine, I take accountability for that," he said.

"The intent was to kick the ball long and I simply struck the ball in a poor manner. It was an more difficult mountain to overcome."

He said being booed "is part of football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he continued. "The team cannot be affected by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.

"It is on us to remain increasingly calm, to focus on ourselves. The team is lacking in calmness and poise to reverse outcomes. Today is a bad loss and it is tough to take."

'I Was Surprised No One Returned to the Goal Line'

Despite the keeper's error, it was far from an simple score for Harry Wilson to convert.

Actually it was the next most distant top division goal of the campaign – after Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre strike for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "somewhat surprised" that he still had an open goal to target.

10 seconds elapsed between the keeper exiting of his box and Wilson shooting – which was 5 seconds following the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," he said.

"It amazed me not one of the defenders returned to the goal line. When not one of them defended the net, my interest sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little additional time. Then it was all about attempting to achieve the right connection and place it towards goal. I felt a good sense, as soon as it left my boot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, Everything Appears to Work Against You'

Booing While We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an all-round bad day for Spurs to continue their home ground struggles.

This was their tenth at home defeat of the year in the league, a joint club statistic matching nineteen ninety-four and two thousand and three.

The side still have home fixtures against the manager's old side Brentford and champions the Reds to play prior to the close of the season.

Just a single of those victories have come after the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're behind 2-0 following the opening, there is a mountain to climb," said Frank.

"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to go against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have lost an additional match. Every game has a unique story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to keep working. The later period was much better and hopefully an aspect we can use to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight home capital clashes for the first time in the top division.

And they are averaging 9.5 attempts and three point two efforts on goal per match in the division – their poorest averages on file in a one season (dating back to the 2003-04 season).

Ex- Cottagers midfielder Murphy commented that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the stick," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and responsibility that accompanies that.

"The performances at home have been poor and they have to get better {quickly|
