Vinted Users Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.

The second-hand shopping app has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel without notifying all users about the change.

Digital Channels Backlash

Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Previously, the sizing featured one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10.

The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range for example S/UK 8-10.

In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.

Shopper Stories

Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".

"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.

A different member, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.

"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.

Necessary Adjustments

Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, said she had been left angered by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.

Service Background

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.

It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.

This represents another occasion when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
